Italian and French humanistic culture during the early modern period

Oscar’s research focuses on Italian and French humanistic culture during the early modern period and in particular on the role of the theatre in the development of cultural and intellectual institutions. Its case study is the 16th-century Italian humanist Giulio Camillo, whose Theatro della sapientia manuscript is held at Manchester’s John Rylands Library, in the Richard Copley Christie Collection.
Oscar’s research is supervised by Professor Stephen Milner (Italian Studies), and is supported by the John Rylands Research Institute.
