We work with researchers from across the humanities and the sciences to reveal and realise the research potential of the Special Collections of The University of Manchester Library. Our Special Collections contain materials in several hundred languages, on virtually every medium.
Among our advances are the identification of a 1,500 year-old papyrus fragment, one of the world's oldest Christian charms, and the recovery of lost text through sophisticated imaging techniques, providing insights into the roots of medicine.
Our collections cover areas of academic interest, such as literature, religious documents and archives charting medical innovations.
Our research is continually improving our understanding of people, cultures and societies around the world.
