Our vision and agenda
At the John Ryland’s Research Institute, our vision is to be a world-leading centre for Special Collections based research across the Humanities and the Sciences.
We support the University’s goal of becoming one of the top 25 universities in the world by investing in high-quality research projects which make use of the University of Manchester Library’s world-class Special Collections, and which are focused on external grant-capture for University of Manchester researchers.
We work with a wide range of stakeholders across the University, including the University of Manchester Library, Creative Manchester, Digital Humanities and researchers across all faculties. It remains our ambition to support academic colleagues from across the University to engage in high-quality research impact and public engagement activities.
We continue to strengthen our offering to postgraduate students and early career researchers. Our diversified grants schemes and suite of international fellowships ensure that we attract the brightest and best researcher talent to the University, while simultaneously raising the international profile of the University through key partnerships in the US, Europe and Australia.
